Summary
Oscar Jonsson will present his recent RSI-sponsored research. This project examines rapid shifts in the Russian military-theoretical debate, focusing on how technology impacts future war and strategies.
Drone and sensor proliferation is challenging fundamental ideas of maneuver and offensive strategy in favor of positional and attritional warfare. The transparent battlefield turns conventional strike capabilities into high-precision capabilities that hinder the concentration of troops and surprise needed for maneuver warfare. Russian future war discussions are highlighting these issues and attempting to develop organizational and technical solutions, including the use of AI.
