Title: Senior Fellow for Naval Forces and Maritime Security Affiliation: International Institute for Strategic Studies
Nick Childs is responsible for the Institute's analysis of naval forces and maritime security, as well as the data on sea power capabilities published in the flagship annual Military Balance. He formulates and delivers research projects in these areas and contributes to other Institute publications, conferences, and consultancy.
Cdr Anders Puck Nielsen
Title: Military Analyst Affiliation: Royal Danish Defence College, Copenhagen
Cdr Anders Puck Nielsen specializes in naval operations and Russian military affairs. He has published articles on Russian naval operations and the concept of A2/AD in the Baltic Region. He also runs the blog romeosquared.eu, focusing on defense issues from a Baltic perspective.
Andrew Monaghan, Ph.D.
Title: Director; Non-Resident Associate Fellow Affiliation: Russia Research Network Ltd; NATO Defence College, Rome
Dr. Andrew Monaghan is Director of the Russia Research Network Ltd and a Non-Resident Associate Fellow of the NATO Defence College in Rome. He has advised governments, international organizations, and major companies, and served as an expert witness to parliamentary committees. He is widely published and the author of several books, including Dealing with the Russians (2019) and Power in Modern Russia (2017).
James Bergeron
Title: Political Advisor to the Commander Affiliation: Allied Maritime Command, NATO, Northwood, United Kingdom
James Bergeron has served as Political Advisor to the Commander, Allied Maritime Command since 2013. He has advised senior US and NATO Commanders in maritime and joint expeditionary operations and was a drafter of the Alliance Maritime Strategy. He is an Honorary Professor of Law, Government, and Criminology at the University of Plymouth and a retired Commander in the US Navy Reserve.
