Emily Ferris

Emily Ferris

Title: Research Fellow Affiliation: International Security Studies department, RUSI

Emily Ferris is a Research Fellow in the International Security Studies department at RUSI, specializing in Russian domestic politics. Emily has a particular interest in Russia's military and civilian infrastructure, including its railways, road, and port systems, and the role this plays in advancing Russia's political ambitions in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as deployed in conflict zones such as Ukraine. She also researches domestic political administrations in Russia's Far East, and Russia's military and political relationship with Belarus.

Kristina Melin

Title: Analyst Affiliation: Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), Eurasia Studies Program

Kristina Melin is an analyst at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), where she focuses on Russian foreign and security policy, countries in the former Soviet Union, and nuclear weapons. She is co-author of the recent FOI report Russia’s War Against Ukraine and the West: The First Year, where she examined the impact of the war on the region.

Before joining FOI, she worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and has been posted to Minsk, Belarus. Kristina holds a master’s degree from the Department of War Studies, King’s College London.

Artyom Shraibman

Title: Nonresident Scholar Affiliation: Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center

Artyom Shraibman is a Belarusian political analyst, non-resident scholar at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, and founder of Sense Analytics consultancy. He is a frequent contributor to a leading Belarusian exiled media, Zerkalo.io, where he hosts his own bi-weekly YouTube show.

His research interests include Belarusian domestic politics, as well as Belarus-EU and Belarus-Russia relations. He worked as a political correspondent for the BelaPAN news agency from 2013 to 2014, political editor for a leading Belarusian independent media TUT.BY from 2014 to 2019, and political advisor to the U.N. in Belarus in 2016.
