Details

RSI hosted a discussion with Michael Albertson, Anya Fink, Rose Gottemoeller, and Andrea Kendall-Taylor on the prospects of strategic stability with Russia.

The event explored key issues related to arms control, deterrence, and evolving security challenges in U.S.-Russia relations.

Format

Each panelist presented for 5-7 minutes followed by guided discussion and 30 minutes of Q&A.

Biographies

Michael Albertson

Michael Albertson

Title: Deputy Director Affiliation: Center for Global Security Research, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Michael Albertson specializes in deterrence and arms control-related portfolios. He has served in various roles in the federal government, including as a senior policy advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and as a team lead in the Department of State’s Office of Strategic Stability and Deterrence Affairs. He holds an M.A. in security policy studies from George Washington University.

Anya Fink

Title: Research Scientist Affiliation: Russia Studies Program, CNA

Anya Loukianova Fink focuses on Russian strategy, deterrence concepts, and military innovation. She has worked as a fellow in the U.S. Senate and as a postdoc at the RAND Corporation. She holds a PhD in international security and economic policy from the University of Maryland and has native fluency in Russian.

Rose Gottemoeller

Title: Steven C. Házy Lecturer Affiliation: Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Stanford University

Rose Gottemoeller is a former Deputy Secretary General of NATO and chief U.S. negotiator of the New START Treaty with Russia. She has extensive experience in arms control, nonproliferation, and political-military affairs. She is the author of Negotiating the New START Treaty and a research fellow at the Hoover Institution.

Andrea Kendall-Taylor

Andrea Kendall-Taylor

Title: Senior Fellow and Director Affiliation: Transatlantic Security Program, Center for a New American Security (CNAS)

Andrea Kendall-Taylor specializes in Russia, authoritarianism, and threats to democracy. She previously served as Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council and as a senior analyst at the CIA. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from UCLA.
