Details

This 90-minute workshop will look at Russia's utilization of the strategic framework, psychological-cognitive methods enabling "tailored deterrence," and utilization of religion to enhance coercion.

Dr. Dmitry Adamsky

Dmitry Adamsky

Title: Professor Affiliation: School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, IDC Herzliya University

Dr. Dmitry (Dima) Adamsky is a Professor at IDC Herzliya University, specializing in international security, cultural approaches to IR, and American, Russian, and Israeli national security policies. He is the author of several award-winning books, including Russian Nuclear Orthodoxy: Religion, Politics and Strategy (Stanford UP), which won the 2020 ISA best book award in the category of Religion and IR.

Anya Loukianova Fink

Anya Loukianova Fink

Title: Research Analyst Affiliation: CNA

Anya Loukianova Fink is a research analyst with CNA's Adversary Analytics team and a member of the Russia Studies Program. Her research focuses on Russian strategy, deterrence, military thought, and nuclear weapons issues. She holds a PhD in international security and economic policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Andrew Monaghan is Director of the Russia Research Network and Senior Associate Fellow at RUSI. He has advised various governments and international organizations and is the author of several books, including Dealing with the Russians (2019) and Power in Modern Russia (2017).

Michael Kofman

Title: Senior Research Scientist Affiliation: CNA

Michael Kofman serves as a Senior Research Scientist in the Russia Studies Program at CNA and as a Fellow at the Kennan Institute, Woodrow Wilson International Center. His research focuses on Russian armed forces, military thought, capabilities, and strategy. He is also a Senior Editor at War on the Rocks and runs a blog on Russian armed forces at Russian Military Analysis.
